About the service
The Parks Police Service provides a uniformed presence across parks and open spaces in Kensington and Chelsea. The team consists of two sergeants and nine constables. The service is part of the Council’s Community Safety Department.
The police can exercise police powers within the parks. They have a duty to ensure that the parks remain safe and welcoming places for everyone.
What the Parks Police do
The Parks Police provide a service 365 days a year and officers are on duty during peak hours. They work with local communities and park users to identify and solve concerns. The service plays a key role in responding to any major incidents in the borough. Staff can access CCTV systems covering many parks.
Police duties include:
- reporting crime within the parks
- dealing with anti-social behaviour
- detaining offenders
- enforcing byelaws and the dog control public spaces protection orders
- security at park events
- dog chipping and dog shows
- attending park user group meetings
- crime prevention
- lost property in parks
- truancy patrols

Community safety
