The Mayor's Charity

The Mayor’s Charity is supporting vital Lung Cancer Research and Treatment.  This research is amongst the most advanced in the world and has the potential to transform the treatment of lung cancer.  Lung cancer results in more deaths than any other cancer.  More deaths than from breast, colon and prostate cancer combined.  It is not, contrary to popular belief, confined to smokers.  I chose Lung Cancer Research not only to raise the profile of this terrible disease but also as it is an opportunity for our two world class specialist hospitals, the Royal Brompton and Royal Marsden to work together.  The research is being supported by the Institute of Cancer Research and by Imperial College with lung cancer treatment carried out by the Brompton and the Marsden as a team.
