You can rent e-bikes from approved operators across the borough.

More than 200 designated parking bays and virtual parking bays are available to support e-bike hire.

Hire an e-bike

To hire an e-bike:

  • download an operator’s app
  • create an account
  • find a nearby bike
  • scan the bike’s QR code or enter the vehicle ID to unlock it

To end your journey:

  • park the bike in a designated e-bike parking bay
  • follow the instructions in the app

Park an e-bike

You must start and end your journey in an approved e-bike parking bay.

Most parking bays are marked on the ground. Some are virtual bays that only appear in the operator's app.

Parking bays are generally available for public use at all times.

All suppliers have signed agreements with the council which mean that parking is only permitted in approved bays, where all trips should start and finish.

If you leave an e-bike outside a designated bay:

  • your hire may continue and you may continue to be charged
  • the operator may issue a fine
  • repeat offences may result in your account being suspended or closed

We may remove e-bikes that are causing an obstruction or creating a safety risk.

If an e-bike is parked incorrectly, abandoned or causing an obstruction, you can report it online.

Reports are sent directly to the operator. We also keep a record of reported locations and issues.
