Temporary structure licences

Temporary structures can include:

  • scaffold
  • hoarding
  • gantry
  • cradle
  • fan
  • mobile/tower scaffold on the highway
  • temporary crossover
  • temporary structure oversailing the highway (oversail)

Even if there is an existing drop kerb, you may still need a temporary crossover licence for construction vehicles. 

Temporary structure licences, including renewals, are issued for three months at a time.

Cost 

Temporary structure license costs are as follows:

  • Scaffold, hoarding, gantry, cradle, fan or temporary crossing costs £683 and can last up to 3 months. 
  • A temporary oversail licence costs £283 and can last up to 3 months. 
  • A mobile scaffold or tower costs £269 and can last up to 2 weeks. 
  • A temporary crossover will be charged based on the cost of the works plus 20% officer charges 

The cost of the deposit admin holding fee is £66 and is non-refundable.
