We take a fee for services, including statutory services, which require an appointment. The fee is  refundable if you cancel two working days before your appointment. Ceremony attendance fees are refundable.

General search of indexes for birth, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships

The superintendent registrar searches the indexes: £20

The search appointment can be up to six hours.

Standard service

At time of registration or within 15 working days if requested later: £12.50 per certificate

Priority service

On or before next working day for orders up to 3pm: £38.50 per certificate

The superintendent registrar records the notice when one of the parties is:

  • housebound: £57
  • detained: £82

Reduction in the notice period

The superintendent registrar reduces the 28-day notice period: £66

If you're seriously ill and not expected to recover, the Registrar General can issue a Registrar General's Licence to speed up the notice and registration process.

The superintendent registrar applies for a Certificate of No Impediment after you give notice: £42

If you've been divorced outside the British Isles

The superintendent registrar confirms if the divorce documents are valid: £55

If the case is complex, the superintendent registrar refers the documents to the Register General for further consideration: £83
