Confidentiality policy
The Centre for Systemic Social Work privileges core values of respect, appreciation and integrity.
Our approach to confidentiality aims to reflect these values and ensures the safety and well-being of participants, their colleagues and the families they work with.
It is essential all students are familiar with the policy and adhere to it at all times. The policy covers not only written work, but discussions and activities held in sessions.
In the event of the policy being breached, conversations will be held with the student, their manager and the systemic training lead in their local authority to determine an appropriate course of action in line with local governance and safeguarding policies and procedures.
The Centre for Systemic Social Work has a responsibility to ensure information regarding students is collected, stored and utilised in a manner compliant with current legislation and requirements.
Please refer to the Privacy Notice for the Centre for Systemic Social Work on page 7 for full detail.
Confidentiality and written work
All written work submitted to the CfSSW should be fully anonymised. This includes.
- essays
- case studies
- practice logs
- reflective journals
- genograms and ecomaps
Follow the guidance below when submitting written work:
- When anonymising essays and genograms use pseudonyms rather than initials as this makes work easier to read
- Ensure there is no identifiable personal information shared that could identify an individual or case. This will include changing names. Be aware of other identifying information such as names of services, locations and highly specific case details
- Never include and upload case recordings or original documents, even if fully redacted
- If at any stage you think an aspect of anonymisation may have failed, discuss with your tutor and your local authority systemic lead as soon as possible
