The Royal Coronation 2023

Events for the whole community

There was a bumper weekend of royal revelry in K&C with celebrations north and south of the borough for the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen fit for the whole family!

On the eve of the Coronation itself, Friday 5 May, an inter-faith service  took place in Jubilee Square beside the Town Hall. Representatives from the four faiths with buildings in the borough, led the service, with prayers, songs and well wishes among the attendees shared.

A huge screen was erected in Holland Park on Saturday morning, to show the ceremony and procession from Westminster Abbey. Despite the poor weather on the day, spirits were high, and hundreds of people from across Kensington and Chelsea – and beyond – came along to watch on the day itself.

In the north of the borough, Portobello Market showcased its best and most British wares with a specially-themed Coronation pop-up market. Stalls brimmed with food, merchandise, produce, goods and union flags and bunting galore with 60 market traders taking part in the festivities.
