Speak at a Full Council Meeting

Information about how residents can register to speak at Full Council meetings.

Full Council meetings opened for public participation

Have your say

This is your Council. To make our community the best place it can be we need to hear from you. If you are a resident of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, please consider coming to a Full Council meeting to share your thoughts, ideas and experiences.

We are looking to the future, and we are putting residents first.

Timings and registration

Ten public speaking slots are reserved at the beginning of each Full Council meeting for people who live, work or go to school in the borough, to address the Council.

Each speaker will be allotted up to five minutes, which includes the time used by the Council to respond.

The next Full Council meeting will be held at Kensington Town Hall in the Council Chambers on Wednesday 5 December 2018 at 6.30pm.

Registration to speak at the Full Council meeting on 5 December will open on Monday 19 November. We will post a notice on the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Twitter, Facebook and Nextdoor pages when registration has opened.

Each of the ten speaking slots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. However, priority will be given to those who have not had an opportunity to speak at a previous Full Council meeting.

You will see a confirmation screen when you have successfully submitted your online registration form. You will receive an email within 48 hours to confirm your speaking slot.

The online registration service will close once the ten slots are filled. All registered speakers will receive a reminder email a week before the meeting to ensure they still plan to attend the meeting. This will help us promote any free slots that become available.

Support

To help make speakers as comfortable as possible with the process, a facilitator from The Democratic Society will be available to provide support before and after the meeting.

The Democratic Society is an independent non-profit organisation that supports democratic participation and the citizen’s voice.

After the meeting

The Council is committed to providing people who choose to speak during the meeting a written response to their question within 10 working days. This response will either be mailed or emailed to you, depending on the information you provided when you registered.

All Full Council meetings are filmed and broadcast live on our Council Meeting Webcasts page. We strive to have full recordings posted within 48 hours of the meeting date.

To read information related to questions received from residents during previous Full Council Meetings please visit the Full Council Meeting Responses web page.
