Local council elections: 2018

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea local council elections are on Thursday 3 May 2018.

To vote in a local council election you must:

  • be registered to vote 
  • be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘Polling Day’) 
  • be a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen
  • be resident at an address in the area you wish to vote in
  • not be legally excluded from voting

There will be no change to the rights and status of EU nationals living in the UK, nor UK nationals living in the EU, while the UK remains in the EU.

Local councillors are elected using the First Past the Post system. You vote for one or more candidates in your local area and the candidates with the most votes win.

The last date to register to vote is Tuesday 17 April.

The last date to apply for a postal vote or to amend a postal vote is Wednesday 18 April at 5pm.
