A three-borough Education, Health and Care Local Offer for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
The three London boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham are preparing for the introduction of the Children and Families Bill. A key duty on Local Authorities and schools will be the publication of a Local Offer, which will set out the education, health and care provision that parents can expect.
The Local Offer will describe what is available and how services can be accessed, and will help parents and practitioners plan together the help that children will get.
We are keen to take the opportunity to work with our parent groups to develop and publish the three-borough Local Offer for children and young people with SEN in a way that is helpful and enables parents to feel confident that they can play an active role in the plans for their child.
During the spring term 2014 the three Councils will be consulting with parents and young people to develop and shape the publication of the Local Offer. Parentsactive; Full of Life and the Westminster Parents Group have been commissioned to lead the parent consultations in each borough.
