Speak at a Full Council Meeting

Have your say at a Full Council meeting!

This is your Council, and Councillors need to know what matters to local people, so if you want to raise an issue of general importance to you and your fellow residents, we want to hear from you.

Ordinary Council Meetings start at 6.30pm and at the start of this meeting up to 1 hour will be set aside for up to 7 speakers.

The next Full Council Meeting with public speaking will be held on Wednesday 26 June 2024, and will be livestreamed via the RBKC YouTube channel.

There will be no public speaking session at the Annual Council Meeting on Wednesday 22 May 2024.

Register your place to speak at the Full Council Meeting

The registration process to attend in person or submit a question to be read out on your behalf for the Wednesday 26 June 2024 meeting will open on Wednesday 12 June 2024 at 10am via Eventbrite for those that live, work or go to school in the Borough.

You will need to register in advance and decide whether to:

(A) attend the meeting in person to address Councillors face-to-face;

or

(B) have your question or point read on your behalf by the Mayor, before being addressed by Councillors.

Limitations

You must not register to speak at a Council meeting if you have spoken at the previous Full Council meeting, and any registration will not be accepted unless:

  • The question or matter to be raised is primarily local in nature and is not about individual or personal matters (e.g. personal claims, applications, legal action, neighbour or other disputes etc.) and does not relate to current planning or licensing applications;
  • You are over age of 16 (or under 16 and can provide the explicit consent of a parent or guardian) or you are a member of the Youth Council.

Registration terms and conditions

  • Registration either to speak in person or to have your question read out will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and no more than 7 valid registrations will be accepted. It will not be possible to register to speak once the registration period has closed, even if fewer than 7 valid registrations have been received.
  • You must register as an individual through Eventbrite and not through a Councillor or anyone else and you may only register once.
  • All those who register successfully will need to choose between options (A) and (B) above. Please select the option you want at the time of registration and include your question or the point you wish to make in no more than 120 words.
  • The question or representation needs to come from the named person on the registration form. You cannot reserve/give your speaking slot to another individual.
  • There will be no opportunity, should you choose to address the meeting in person, to ask a supplementary question.
  • All registered speakers who have indicated they will attend in person will need to confirm their attendance via the reminder email received 48 hours before the meeting. Individuals who do not confirm will forfeit their speaking slot.
  • If a speaker fails to attend on the evening, the space will not be reallocated.
  • If you need to cancel your question/ticket, please follow the instructions on Eventbrite telling you how to do this.
  • You will receive an automatic email confirmation from Eventbrite when you have successfully submitted your registration.
  • Please note that you have 15 minutes to complete your registration for your ticket to be processed.
  • If for any reason you are unable to register on Eventbrite, please email [email protected] with your contact details and a member of staff with contact you.
