Kensington and Chelsea Youth Participation Hub

Empowering youth voice

RBKC Youth Council

We facilitate RBKC’s Youth Council, open to everyone 11 to 19 years old (up to 25 for SEND) who live, work, or study in the borough.

The Youth Council meets weekly to discuss important issues in the borough and deliver projects to turn their ideas into action!

Youth Council members regularly meet with council officers, councillors, and key decision-makers to provide young people’s perspectives on major projects, including:

  • Earl’s Court Road development
  • review of the Charter for Public Participation, part of the council’s constitution
  • public safety initiatives
  • Notting Hill Carnival

Youth Council elections

We run elections every two years for the Youth Council positions of youth mayor and cabinet Members, which mirror the structure of the council. Find out how to get involved in 2025.

Working with lead members

We run the Lead Member Shadowing Programme, where Youth Council cabinet members shadow elected council members to gain first-hand experience of leadership and decision-making.

Work experience opportunities

We offer work experience opportunities within the Youth Participation team, giving young people the chance to develop professional skills and contribute to youth engagement projects.

Young Leaders Awards

We run the Young Leaders Awards, for young people who live, work or study in Kensington and Chelsea to celebrate their achievements.

The best way to get involved in all of our Youth Voice opportunities is to join our Youth Council. Find out how you can get involved.
