Ensure 100% of building control staff complete required accreditation and training

Our progress
All of our building control surveyors are registered as building inspectors with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR)(1 April 2025).
Next steps
Accreditation: all staff to complete the Building Inspector Competence Framework (BICoF) assessment.
Training: all staff continue to undertake the required CPD necessary to maintain their corporate membership with their professional body:
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE)
- Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
When this will happen
Accreditation assessments are to be completed by the end of summer 2025.
Commitment 14
Support government review of building control sector and implement reforms

Our progress
Our Building Control department has written, as part of the London District Surveyors’ Association, to the government offering to provide support to their proposed review.
Next steps
Working with other organisations, such as London Councils or the Local Government Association (LGA), to establish a common policy position on local vs national delivery of building control functions.
When this will happen
Discussions across local government networks are expected during 2025. Depending on government's review timetable, the first update from the Government is expected before summer 2025.
