In Kensington and Chelsea, circulatory diseases account for around 20 per cent of the difference in life expectancy between the most and least deprived areas.
Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke, is one of the leading causes of illness and early death in the UK.
We are working with partners and communities to reduce health inequalities and improve wellbeing. This includes encouraging access to free NHS Health Checks, smoking cessation support, and weight management programmes.

NHS Health Check
The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your heart and health. It can tell you whether you’re at risk of getting certain health problems.
It takes about 20 to 30 minutes and involves looking at:
- your height and weight
- blood pressure
- cholesterol levels
- if you smoke, drink alcohol and how much physical activity you do
At the end of your check, you’ll have the chance to discuss your results, next steps and where to get support.
