Settling in the UK
We understand that the journey of settling in a new country can be challenging, so we have a dedicated team to help.
No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and Refugee Services is a dedicated team created to assist refugees and people seeking asylum to access essential services and support. Our goal is to foster integration and provide new residents with the best possible start to their lives in the United Kingdom.
We offer complete support and signposting, ensuring that people are connected to the right resources and services at the right time. The team includes:
- outreach officers who work in the community and accommodation locations, providing comprehensive support and guidance
- Early Help team working with children and families to help them manage any new difficult circumstances before they develop into more serious issues
Our service evolved from the emergency response to the evacuation of Afghanistan in 2021, but has since expanded to support other groups of refugees and asylum seekers.
Who we support
The service supports three main groups:
- hosts and guests on the Homes for Ukraine scheme
- Afghan refugees
- people seeking asylum, who are living in the borough while their applications are processed
