It's Fraud Awareness Week 17 - 23 November

We all need to be vigilant and alert when it comes to spotting and reporting fraud. The Council's Housing Investigation Team look into all cases of tenancy fraud, including suspicions of sub-letting, properties not being used as the main and principal home, false applications for succession, Right to Buy, Mutual Exchanges and assignments. 

Together with their housing colleagues, last year they recovered 36 properties that were subject to tenancy fraud, all of which were returned to the Council to allocate to those most in need. With your help, we can have another successful year. 

The team also provide advice if you are unsure whether a referral is necessary; they can talk you through your concerns and advise on the best way forward.
