Outdoor Physical Activity Programme: 

Health Walks (Starts back 06/04/21)

Led by trained local residents, our five Health Walks are free of charge and open to all abilities. Meet new people who share a passion for the outdoors, and join any of our Health Walks.

Tai Chi (Starts back 07/04/21) 

Tai Chi is a Chinese martial art that combines body co-ordination and breathing techniques. It helps to improve strength, flexibility and posture. This is an ideal exercise for all participants at any stage of fitness.

Nordic Walking (Starts back 08/04/21)

Nordic walking is a Finnish-origin total-body version of walking that can be enjoyed both by non-athletes as a health-promoting physical activity, and by athletes as a sport. The activity is performed with specially designed walking poles similar to ski poles.

Zumba (Starts back 09/04/21) 

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness.

Fitness Walk (Starts back 12/04/21) 

An instructor led class incorporating stretches and power walking. Suitable for regular brisk walkers. Improves cardiovascular fitness, balance and co-ordination.

Tennis Activators (Starts back 21/04/21)

Improve your shots, have fun, get a workout, play non-competitively. Two-hour session with a coach (cardio, coaching tips and match play). Session must be pre booked by sending email to Lyndsey.north@rbkc.gov.uk

Online Exercise Class Programme (Starting Monday 4 January)

All classes are free and will be taught via zoom.

Learn Latin and ballroom dance techniques.

  • Mondays 10am – 11am Belrobics

Belrobics is a belly dance inspired fitness programme that will have you shimmying and shaking your troubles away... A feel good, fun & effective workout to a wide variety of Arabic rhythms.

Half conditioning exercises and half stretching.

  • Tuesdays 8am to 9am Raja Yoga

Raja Yoga is predominantly guided meditation based, incorporating other yoga practises.

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements.

  • Tuesday 6pm to 7pm Combat Fitness

Combat Fitness is an exercise class that lets you punch and kick your way towards your fitness goals. Not only is it a great whole-body workout for cardio fitness, but it's also superb for burning fat, releasing stress and improving your co-ordination. No equipment needed. 

  • Wednesdays 12.15pm to 1.15pm Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements.

  • Thursdays 9.30am to 10.30am Mind and Body Yoga

Harmonizing the body with the mind and breath using different breathing techniques, Yoga poses and meditation.

  • Thursdays 6pm to 7pm Bodypump

This class will target all muscle groups using weights.

Do I need to pre book the session?

All sessions are drop in apart from Tennis Activators.

Do I need to wear a mask?

You are welcome to wear your own mask, but it is not essential for our sessions.

Are you implementing Track and Trace?

We do have track and trace measures in place for all our sessions. You will be asked to fill out a track and trace form on your arrival.

What happens if I turn up late?

Please ensure you turn up 5 minutes before the start time as late comers will not be allowed to take part.

Are these sessions suitable for beginners?

Yes, all our sessions are suitable for beginners.

Will outdoor sessions go ahead regardless of weather conditions?

Sessions will go ahead unless high winds or thunder and lightning. Please ensure you bring suitable clothing with you.

How much do sessions cost?

Free until the end of the year.

How old do I need to be to attend sessions?

16+  


Leisure Centre Classes

Several Active for Life sessions are now back at Kensington Leisure Centre and Chelsea Sports Centre. All classes must be pre booked. Booking can be made 1 week in advance and closes 2 hours prior to session. Please note bookings will not be accepted after the closing time.

Booking is made via email to Lyndsey.north@rbkc.gov.uk or Lucy.wright@rbkc.gov.uk or phoning between 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday on 07702151852 or 07702151847. (If you do not get through then please leave a voicemail).

Please note your session booking will not be confirmed unless you receive an email confirmation and you will be turned away from the session if you are not on the pre booked register. You will be required to show the instructor your email confirmation.

Please turn up on time for your sessions. Late comers will not be allowed to take part which will be enforced heavily by centre staff. Make sure you turn up ready for the session as changing rooms will be closed.

Once in the activity room, you will be allocated a 3m by 3m box which you need to remain in for the duration of the session. Any equipment will need to be wiped down before and after use with sanitiser products which will be provided.

Please note all sessions will be free until the end of the year.
