About the event
Join us on a special musical journey with master of the oud Ahmed Mukhtar and the Taqasim Music School and Foundation. An oud and percussion concert will explore the main maqam scales of Arabic music, presenting their distinct sound, mood, feeling and energy.
Useful information:
- Please note that the concert takes place in Leighton's studio and begins at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm).
- There will be a paid bar from 6:30pm.
- Ticket price includes access to the historic house and exhibition galleries.
Meet Ahmed Mukhtar
Ahmed Mukhtar, an acclaimed composer and musician, has been playing the Iraqi oud and Arabic percussions since childhood. Over the years, he has studied with many great musicians in both Iraq and Syria and received an MA in Performance from SOAS in 2003. He founded the Taqasim Music School, London in 2011 as a way to share his extensive musical knowledge with anyone interested in music.
