Final £200,000 of Discretionary Grants funding available for local businesses

Businesses in Kensington and Chelsea have two days left to apply for a share of the last £200,000 from the £2.2 million Discretionary Grants Fund.

So far, 389 business owners, self-employed and market traders in the borough have benefitted from £2 million in grants already awarded through the fund.

The Council is encouraging local operators and entrepreneurs to check their eligibility as applications for the remaining funding are only open until midnight on Friday 28 August 2020.

Cllr Catherine Faulks, Lead Member for Economy, Employment and Innovation said:

“Our businesses are experiencing one of the most challenging periods in history and supporting them get back on their feet is a top priority. These grants have been a lifeline for many and we urge anyone who is eligible to make sure they apply – we don’t want you to miss out!”

Along with the Discretionary Grants funding, £500,000 has been given out to 147 businesses from the Council’s own Business Interruption Fund, over £42 million in business rates grants has been given to over 2,200 recipients, and around £231 million in business rates relief has been recorded for over 3,000 RBKC businesses.

15 per cent of those eligible for business rates grants have yet to claim so small businesses make sure they check and apply ahead of the deadline of Friday 28 August.
