Council tax bills for 2026/27 are now being issued to residents

Published: Thursday 21 May 2026

Following the criminal cyber attack on the Council in November 2025, we had to isolate our systems to keep them safe. You can read our FAQs here.

Our payment systems are now working, and we have issued council tax bills for 2026/27 to residents. Due to the cyber incident, council tax bills are later than usual this year.

Advice for residents

You will have received your council tax bill for 2026/27 which covers payments from April 2026 to March 2027. Please note this bill does not include any changes reported to us since November 2025 and might not be correct.

If you have already told us about changes that do not appear on your bill, rest assured your request is in our queue and will be updated as we work through the backlog of emails received during the outage.

Due to bills sent later than usual, your instalments will be different this year:

  • monthly payments: June to March
  • quarterly payments: June, September, December and March
  • half yearly payments: June and November
  • yearly payment: June

If you have arranged to make payment by Direct Debit this will be clearly shown on your bill.  If you've cancelled your Direct Debit, you can set it up again online at www.rbkc.gov.uk/council-tax/ways-pay-your-council-tax

Other payment options are also listed on this webpage and on the back of your bill.

Cllr Elizabeth Campbell, leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council, said:

"I want to thank residents for their patience and understanding while our teams worked around the clock to restore services safely and securely following the cyber incident.

"I am pleased to confirm that council tax bills for 2026/27 are now being issued, and residents should expect to receive theirs shortly.

"I recognise that these bills are later than usual and will reflect changes to council tax this year. For anyone who needs advice or guidance with their bill, support is available and our teams are here to help.”
