More than £1.2m allocated to North Kensington community projects following the GPF2 public vote

Over £1.2m has now been allocated to a variety of North Kensington community projects as part of the Grenfell Projects Fund 2. Out of the 71 projects that applied, 40 successfully secured an offer of funding to run special projects across North Kensington’s seven wards.

The funding was allocated following a public vote, in which almost 1,400 North Kensington residents cast more than 4,400 votes via our online platform. These scores were then combined with those provided by our Resident-led Panel and Grenfell Community Team to decide which projects would bring the most benefit to the local community.

Nancy De La Torre, Resident-led Panel member and local mum, said: “I personally scored around 20 applications and was happy with the range of projects that were chosen to receive funding. I think that many of those that were successful have already proven to have a positive impact on the recovery of North Kensington, so it’s important that they receive funding so they can continue their work within the community.”

Some of the organisations that received funding participated in the first round of the Grenfell Projects Fund, while others were new to the funding process. The projects offer a range of free services and sessions to North Kensington residents, including boxing and football training, art workshops, wellbeing courses and theatre groups.

Nancy continued: “The next step for us as a Panel is to do our due diligence and make sure each project is delivered to a high standard. We will work to support the project providers throughout the year and look forward to participating in the third round of the Fund in the future.”

More information about the Grenfell Projects Fund 2 can be found in the Key Decision Report on the RBKC website, which includes detailed information about the current status of the Fund. Once the project list has been confirmed, we will upload all project information onto the Grenfell Projects Fund 2 webpage, along with details of how to get involved.
