Vote via post? You may need to reapply

Published: Thursday 24 July 2025

If you normally vote via post, you are encouraged to check if you need to reapply for your postal vote.

Following changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, postal voters are now required to reapply for their postal vote every three years.

Local Elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2026, which will see borough residents vote for their ward councillors.

Do you know someone who votes via post? Let them know!

If you made your last postal vote application before 31 October 2023, you will be required to reapply for your postal vote by Saturday 31 January 2026.

If you do not provide a fresh application by this date, we are required by law to cancel your current postal voting arrangement. You will still be able to vote in person at a polling station, but you won't be able to make your vote via post until you have confirmed your application.
