We provide cycle parking across the borough so you can park your bike safely.

Types of cycle parking include:

• cycle stands on footways and carriageways
• cycle parking on central islands, such as Kensington High Street
• cycle hoops attached to existing sign posts
• cycle hangars

Request a new cycle parking location

We install cycle parking where space allows and aim to avoid obstructing pedestrians or creating street clutter.

Rent a cycle hangar space

Cycle hangars provide secure, weather-protected storage for your bikes.

A cycle hangar space costs:

• £72 per year
• a one-off refundable £25 key deposit, where applicable

Each hangar can store up to 6 bicycles in the space of one small car parking bay.

You can rent up to 2 cycle hangar spaces per household.

Some cycle hangars are privately managed and may not be available through these platforms.

If you live on an RBKC or housing association estate, contact your housing officer to find out whether you can access a local cycle hangar.

Request a new cycle hangar location

We'll consider installing a new cycle hangar when we receive requests from at least 3 households for the same location.

To register your interest, contact us.

If fewer than 3 households request a cycle hangar, you may be able to apply for funding through the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy. Local ward councillors decide whether to approve NCIL funding applications.

How we decide whether to install a cycle hangar

We consult local residents before making any changes to streets. A consultation for a new cycle hangar usually lasts at least 6 weeks.

After the consultation closes:

• we review the feedback and decide whether to proceed
• if approved, installation and any required road marking changes usually take 1 to 2 months
• our contractor will contact the first 6 residents who requested a space and share information about renting a space
• if more than 6 residents applied we'll add them to a waiting list in the order we received requests

Funding a cycle hangar

You cannot place a privately purchased cycle hangar on the public highway.
