Join the library
How to join a library
It is free to join any of our libraries and borrow books in Kensington and Chelsea.
You can join online or in person by bringing proof of your permanent address. This can be a UK address or an international address.
How to join online
You can join online to access our wide range of ebooks, e-audiobooks, e-magazines, e-newspapers and language courses. You will be registered as a temporary member.
Next step is to provide official proof of your name and address in-person at any of our libraries. We will change your temporary library membership to a permanent one and you can start borrowing items from our libraries.
If you have difficulties with this form, you can also use our alternative registration form.
How to join in-person
You can visit any of our libraries and complete an online membership form. You will need to provide official proof of your name and address, such as:
- driving licence
- bank or credit card statement
- utility bill
- tenancy agreement
Library staff are able to help you complete the form. If you are unsure about what documents to bring, ask a member of library staff or email us.
Library memberships for children and young people
All applications for a library membership for children and young people under the age of 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian.
