Notice period

We suspend parking places so that necessary work can be carried out. Notice to suspend a parking place is required in writing ahead of the event date.

Suspension notices

We require:

  • ten working days notice, in writing, to suspend a resident parking space
  • two working days notice, in writing, to suspend a pay-and-display bay

Open the Notice Period Chart to see how this works

Note: Suspension fees from 1 April 2015

Please note:

A bank holiday is not counted as a notification day, so you will have to give an extra day's notice.

Working days apply from Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Your application must be received before 3pm for it to be accepted for that day.

There needs to be one clear consecutive week between the dates required for a suspension for a second application to be treated as a new application and incur the lower charges.

Longer notice is required if you are applying for a suspension for filming. Please see the Film Office page.
