Description: Garden wall. Mid C16 mid C17 with later repairs and alterations. C16/C17 wall of random bond brick. Wall of approx. 70m extends from south to north, rebuilt in early/mid C19 brick to southern end, returns to east for approx. 15m and then approx. 20m to north, the latter section being the most complete having retained its triangular brick coping. Built as garden wall to the Manor Mouse built for Henry. VIII after 1536 and formed the eastern boundary of Winchester House, built for James Duke of Hamilton in 1639-49. Included as a significant remnant of one of the great houses fronting the Thames which characterised this part of Chelsea. (Survey of London.. pp 67, 69, 70-71.)
