It’s time to Unplug & Play!

Following the success of our Unplug & Play campaign in 2016 we are bringing it back this summer!

The campaign is all about encouraging children to spend less time on screens and more time playing and being active. Health experts recommend that children should be active for at least 60 minutes each day and spend no more than 2 hours a day using screens. This can be hard to achieve, so the campaign will share ideas and inspiration about all the fun ways we can switch off and have fun.

The campaign will kick-off with the Unplug & Play Party in the Park event on Friday 20 July between 2pm and 5pm in Emslie Horniman's Park, W10 5DH. Expect music, dancing, face painting, storytelling and free tasters of lots of local play and leisure activities open to children and families over the summer holidays and beyond.

Children will be able to pick up a free copy of our new booklet ’25 ways to Unplug & Play’ and collect reward stickers from local organisations as they complete screen-free activities. Go Golborne is also supporting local organisations to run special activities over the holidays to help keep it action packed! Be sure to follow the Family Information Service on Twitter and Facebook to stay in the loop about future activities and events

Commenting on the campaign Ellie Lewis, Go Golborne Co-ordinator said "The Unplug & Play campaign was a big hit in 2016 so we are delighted to bring it back this summer to help children to reduce screen-time and promote all the great activities and services on offer locally to help children to play, create and have fun."
