Opera Holland Park

Opera Holland Park

Francesca da Rimini, Opera Holland Park

June-August annually

Opera Holland Park is a unique opera company that presents an open air summer season under a temporary canopy in Kensington’s Holland Park. One of London’s summer highlights, it is considered one of the UK’s most accomplished and successful non-state opera companies, and was named the Best Opera Company 2010 by the Sunday Times Review of the Year.

Even if you’re not familiar with opera, the warm atmosphere and affordable pricing make Opera Holland Park very accessible. Although each opera is sung in the original language, subtitling is projected above the stage so that you can follow the story.

High artistic standards and beautiful surroundings lend each production a unique air of magic. The resident orchestra, the award-winning City of London Sinfonia, takes part in each performance.

There are around six different operas presented every season, and nearly 50 performances. Many of the operas are famous classics, but the company also has a reputation for being daring in their selection, and often stages more obscure works.

Come prepared to picnic, and remember to check the weather. Although the productions are under cover, the canopy is open at the sides. For more details, please see Opera Holland Park.
