Our programme of Children's Holiday Activities for 2019

October Half Term and Night Safari at Holland Park Ecology Centre

Monday 21 October to Friday 25 October

Welcome to our October Half term holiday activity programme, with a range of fun and exciting nature themed activities taking place throughout the half term.  We will be exploring the fabulous outdoors along with arts and crafts, shelter building, minibeast hunts and more.

·        Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult

AUTUMN WATCH

Search for signs of autumn in the wildlife area and make an autumn leaf window.

For ages four to eight

HAPPY HIBERNATION

Learn how animals survive the winter and make a clay hedgehog.

SENSING NATURE

Explore the woods through your senses. Join us for forest bathing, sensory games and crafts.

For ages four to eight

NATURE CONNECTION

Immerse yourself in the woods. Take part in forest bathing, sensory games and mindful art activities.

For ages eight to twelve

WEDNESDAY 23 OCTOBER, 12 NOON-4PM

NATURE EXPLORER DROP-IN AFTERNOON (NO BOOKING REQUIRED)

See all the wildlife and nature that Holland Park has to offer at the drop-in nature explorer afternoon.

Why not hire a ‘Nature Explorer Bag’ to take on your nature quest around the park?

Suitable for children of all ages.

Bag Hire: £5 with a £10 refundable deposit (no booking required)

THURSDAY 24 OCTOBER, 10.30AM-3PM

FOREST DAY

Join us in the woods where you can try your hand at fun forest activities like whittling, knot making and shelter building. Bring outdoor clothing and a packed lunch and get ready to explore!

For ages eight to 12

£28 per child for the day


FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER 10AM-12 NOON

Fungi Fun

Discover the fascinating world of mushrooms and toadstools and make a clay toadstool to take home.

For ages four to eight

£5.30 standard/£4.40 concession

FRIDAY 25 OCTOBER 2-4PM

Tree Trolls

Bring autumn leaves and seeds to life with your own tree troll.

For ages four to eight

Meet the Minibeasts

Charlie Cockroach and Alex the Snail invite you to come and meet them and their minibeast friends at the library. Hosted by a minibeast expert from the Borough’s Ecology Service, it will be a chance to learn fascinating facts about minibeasts and handle them, if you’re brave enough!

Wednesday 23 October – Central Library, 2-3pm

Free to attend, but please book via your local library

 

Children’s Night Safari

Wednesday 23 October, 5–7pm (4 to 8 year olds)

Join the Ecology Team for a fun-filled evening searching for Holland Parks nocturnal inhabitants, exploring the woods at night.  Please bring a torch if you have one.

£5.30 per child / £4.40 per child Concession (accompanying adult free), booking essential

These charges have been set and agreed by the Cabinet member for Environment, Leisure and Residents’ Services in March 2019.

Spaces are limited on our holiday activity sessions. Please book and make payment in advance to secure your booking. Sorry, we cannot give refunds.

Note: * Concessions are: RBKC residents who are in receipt of: job seekers allowance [income based], incapacity benefit, disability living allowance, industrial injuries disablement benefit or severe disablement allowance or senior citizen [60+ years]. Concessions discount is also available to those who have a disability or are registered as caring for the disabled. (RBKC residents and Non Residents) For concession rate proof of residency and eligibility is required.

In booking sessions, please note we only now accept payment by debit or credit card excluding American Express.
