Marlborough Primary School Mural
We helped Marlborough Primary School work with a local artist on a mural that contained the work of children, parents and the staff, to send a powerful message of community. The work was inspired by the children of the school, and features hundreds of mosaic pieces.

(00:50) and when they all took place and they made those Mosaic leaves there are 80 of them fabulous it's so wonderful to know that that so many different communities were involved it was so many different parts of the school Community were involved in doing this.

(00:00) City living local life we use for different events here where we're attracting people from the local community to come and join us so in subsequent years we've in previous years rather we've hosted a lunch for the over 70s we hosted a tea at the carination and we've also used it to support some of the Arts events that we hold here at St John's in October of each year we work with Koffa the K Olympia Festival of music and the Arts and they put on a series of free concerts using local talent and we've used city-living local
(00:35) life to help us put those concerts on and to open the Arts to people that wouldn't ordinarily be able to come and join us.
The Community Cook Off
The grant helped contribute to the Community Cook Off, an event where residents come together to share delicious food and compete to be the best chefs in the area. The event helps residents from different backgrounds meet and to form bonds that have led to long lasting friendships across North Kensington.

(00:00) hi I'm PC Charlotte uh wall I'm a local Youth and Community police officer um I've been based up in North Kensington for about eight years um and I set up the community Cookoff with a member of the community called Tariq Gotti and we run the community Cookoff event which is held here um at Bay 20 Max of the gardens every summer [Music] that's basically a cooking competition um for teams of six chefs we have a maximum of 12 teams um and they compete to be name the best team or the best group of chefs in the local area um and
(00:46) we have a really good Community Fund day and we have a DJ and we have a local Chef that comes so this year or last year I applied for um, 15500 from Notting Dale and from St Helens because as we're here it kind of sits on the border and then with that money I was able to buy the aprons for all the teams which then the teams get to take away with them after the event and the uh Pantry which um is obviously all the food that we need to cook for the day and then anything left over goes to Bay 20 where they distribute it to the local
(01:17) community as well so yeah without City living fund this event um funding wise would be quite difficult so yeah I it's a great it's a great application to put through um and it really benefits the community hugely because obviously it kind of runs full circle so yeah I love I love the city living fund and I think it's quite a an underused and under valuable tool for local um Community groups to be able to access so yeah it's it's a thumbs up for me.
