Encouraging our residents online
Confidence in the digital world
Our Digital Helper programme helps our residents get online and ensures everyone feels included in our digital world. Our programme encourages residents to enjoy the benefits of the digital world including:
- how to stay in touch with family on WhatsApp
- book activities online
- access NHS services
- use banking apps to help save money
- browse exclusive online deals
Digital helper is the umbrella term for the two types of sessions we run in our libraries:
- IT Help Sessions: no booking required, group setting, delivered by volunteers and library staff
- Digital clinics hosted by Age UK: no booking required, group setting for the over 50s, delivered by Age UK
To find out how to take part in these sessions, visit our Events page and search for IT and computer events.
Volunteer at our libraries as a digital helper
We are always looking for volunteers to help people get online. You would be offering advice, information and support to a resident, including things like helping them set up an email or WhatsApp account, or research topics they are interested in.
You don’t need to be an IT expert, you just need to feel comfortable with using a device for everyday use, and come equipped with enthusiasm and patience to help members of our local community.
If you would like to get involved, email [email protected].
