Youth Mayor and Cabinet Member elections
How to become the Youth Mayor or Cabinet Member of RBKC Youth Council
If you are aged between 11 and 19 years old on 1 September 2024 and live or study in the borough, you can register to stand for election.
If you want to be the next Youth Mayor or Youth Cabinet Member and make your mark on the borough, please speak to a school teacher to provide you a pack and further guidance. Alternatively, download a candidate pack below or email the youth participation team [email protected].
Complete the Registration Form in the pack and send it to the Youth Participation Team by 5pm on Sunday 23 March. Candidates under the age of 18 also need to get a Consent Form signed by a parent or carer and a teacher or lecturer.
How do I get nominated for election?
If you go to school or college in Kensington and Chelsea, you will need to get 30 young people who live or study in the borough to sign your Nomination Form.
You will only need 20 nominations if you go to school outside the borough, if you have a Kensington and Chelsea Education, Health and Care Plan, if you are in the care of Kensington and Chelsea or if you are a young carer known to known to Kensington and Chelsea Council.
What happens next?
When your registration form has been received and confirmed, you will be invited to attend candidate training on Tuesday 25 or Wednesday 26 March. You will write an election manifesto and film a video manifesto on 25 or 26 March.
All the manifestos will be put on our website and sent out to schools, colleges and websites. You can also do your own campaigning.
When is the election?
Voting will take place between Tuesday 22 April and Thursday 1 May. Results will be announced by the Mayor of Kensington & Chelsea on Friday 2 May in the Mayors Parlour, Kensington Town Hall.
