About the challenge
Corporate Peer Challenge is a sector-led improvement tool delivered by the Local Government Association. A team of experienced councillors and officers from other councils spend four days reviewing key finance, performance, and governance information, then provide robust strategic challenge and support. Every council is expected to have a Corporate Peer Challenge at least once every five years.
Our peer team comprised:
- Cllr Kevin Bentley, Leader of Essex County Council
- Cllr Anthony Okereke, Leader of Royal Borough of Greenwich
- Sharon Kemp OBE, former Chief Executive of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council

- Anisa Darr, Executive Director of Resources, London Borough of Barnet
- Florence Obinna, Head of Insight and Engagement, London Borough of Hackney
- Susmita Sen, Corporate Director of Housing, London Borough of Croydon
