Advice for scaffolders
We welcome professional tradesmen in Kensington and Chelsea and want your work to run smoothly.
While you are working in the borough, we ask you to be considerate to residents and other road users.
- scaffolding or temporary structures must be installed in accordance with HSE Guidance and to Recognised Industry Standards
- applicants must carry out risk assessments and adhere to Working At Height Regulations
- applicants must ensure safe systems of work are maintained at all times, including when installing and dismantling scaffolding, taking into consideration and providing suitable control measures or risk management for pedestrians and road users in accordance with Section 174 of the Highways Act and Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual
- make sure there is at least three metres of road space left for vehicles to pass your lorry when you are loading or unloading. If this is not possible, you will need to book a suspension or dispensation, unless we have agreed otherwise
- only work during permitted construction site working hours which are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday
- keep noise to a minimum
- make sure your remove or lock away your ladders and climbing aids when you finish for the day
