Our contractors often work with our dedicated social value team to look at how they can invest in the communities they work in throughout the borough. This can be through financial donations, estate improvements or job and training opportunities.
Most recently, our electrical contractors R&MA Stewart partnered with Lancaster West Works, a programme developed for residents living on the Lancaster West estate that focusses on offering residents jobs either at the Council or partner organisations.
Through the programme our social value team were able to secure apprentice electrician roles for two young people, Dawud and Belal. Thank to their new roles both boys are on the pathway to becoming qualified electricians and have had the opportunity to work both in and outside of London learning on the job.
Both young men have described the opportunity as 'life changing' and when asked what their advice would be or other young people looking for employment they said "go for it, and put your mind to what you want to achieve".
We wish Dawud and Belal all the best for the future!
Our social value team are always looking at how our contractors can give back to our communities. If you have any ideas or would like to speak to a member of our team you can email [email protected].
