Join the library
Joining any of our libraries and borrowing books is free.
You can join online or in person at any of our libraries.
To join, you'll need to bring proof of your name and permanent address. This can be a UK or international address.
Join online
When you join online, you'll get a temporary library membership. This gives you access to:
- e-books
- e-audiobooks
- e-magazines
- e-newspapers
- language courses
To become a full library member and borrow items from our libraries, visit any library with proof of your name and address.
We will then change your temporary library membership to a permanent membership so you can start borrowing items from our libraries.
If you cannot register online
If you have difficulties with the online form, you can also use our alternative registration form.
Join in-person
Visit any of our libraries to join.
You'll need to complete an online membership form and show proof of your name and address.
You can use:
- a driving licence
- a bank or credit card statement
- a utility bill
- a tenancy agreement
Library staff can help you complete the form.
If you're not sure which documents to bring, ask a member of staff or email us.
