Membership

Joining the library is simple, you can join by coming into your local library or online. Anyone can join free of charge as a full adult member provided they have proof of their permanent address anywhere in the UK.

 

Joining in person

You will need to fill in the membership form and provide official proof of name and address, such as:

  • driving licence
  • a credit card statement
  • a utility bill
  • a bank statement

If you are unsure about what documents to bring ask one of our members of staff or call us on 020 7361 3010 (your call may be recorded for training and monitoring purposes).

Please note: All applications for membership of children and young people under 18 require the signature of a parent or guardian.

Joining online

You can join online by completing the online form and providing official proof of name and address at a library branch for your temporary card to become permanent and to be able to borrow items.

How much does it cost?

It costs nothing to join and borrowing books is free. There is a charge for borrowing music or audiobook CDs, DVDs and language courses, but you may be entitled to concessions (please note that there are no concessions for DVDs). Concessions are reserved for those who are in receipt of benefits (excluding Child Benefit), who consider themselves disabled or for those over the age of 59.

How do I update my details?

If your details change you must tell us as soon as possible. You can email us details of any changes to libraries@rbkc.gov.uk
