The Greening Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides planning guidance on how development can help reduce carbon emissions and support a healthier environment in the borough.
Adoption of the Greening SPD
The council's Leadership Team adopted the Greening SPD on 9 June 2021.

The Council published a Draft Greening SPD for a six-week consultation from 12 January to 23 February 2021.

What the Greening SPD covers
The Greening SPD explains how planning can help towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a healthier borough.
It includes guidance on:
- our energy policies, both for new build and retrofitting the Borough’s substantial historic building stock
- the reduction of toxic emissions
- controlling air pollution
- urban greening
- flooding
- biodiversity
