You can search, view and comment on applications using the Planning Applications Search on the council's website. The service is updated regularly, and key milestones and target dates are shown under "Proposal Details".
If you have submitted an application that is still within its statutory determination period, or an agreed extension of time, a progress update may not yet be available. If you need to speak to the planning officer dealing with your application, you can email them directly. Their contact details can be found in:
- your planning application acknowledgement letter
- any emails or letters about your application

New arrangement for planning decisions from 31 October
The National Scheme of Delegation comes into force on 31 October 2026. The scheme changes the arrangements for deciding which planning applications can be determined by planning officers and which are referred to Planning Committee.
Following Full Council on 21 October 2026, the Council’s Constitution has been updated to reflect the new arrangements.

The Council adopted the Transport and Streets SPD on 20 April 2016. The Transport and Streets SPD provides more detailed guidance and advice on the adopted Local Plan Policies CT1 (Improving Alternatives to Car Use), CR1 (Street Network), CR3 (Street and Outdoor Life), CR4 (Streetscape) and CR7 (Servicing).
It is designed to help applicants make successful planning applications and for residents to understand the various issues that the Council will consider in assessing planning applications that have implications for the borough's streets and transport networks. Applicants should follow the guidance in the Transport and Streets SPD when submitting their planning application alongside meeting the requirements of the Consolidated Local Plan in particular Chapters 32 (Better Travel Choices) and 33 (An Engaging Public Realm). Depending on the case there may be other planning policies that also apply.
