Types of councillor allowances
The council provides councillors with a basic annual allowance. This covers travel expenses inside the borough and working from home costs.
We also provide ‘special responsibility allowances’ for lead members and committee chairs. Some other post holders also receive this. See ‘Councillor allowance entitlements 2025 to 2026’ below.
