Your mayor

Invite the Mayor to your event

Every year, the Mayor attends hundreds of engagements hosted by local organisations, charities and businesses across the borough and London.

Inviting the mayor to your event should add value. With this in mind, please think about the value the mayor attending your event will have. For example, is there a purpose to their visit, such as opening the event, cutting a ribbon or presenting prizes.

If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event, please fill in the Mayor’s Attendance and Speech Request Form. If you are unable to complete and/or submit this online form, please contact the Mayor’s Office to discuss alternative options.

Invite the Mayor to your event

Before you send your invitation request please note the following:

  • please read the Mayoral Protocol carefully
  • the Mayor endeavours to attend as many events as they can, but their attendance is subject to availability
  • please submit the attendance and speech request form at least two weeks or 10 working days in advance of the event. This allows the office time to discuss the invitation with the Mayor and arrange the visit
  • if the mayor cannot attend an event, the deputy mayor may attend to represent the mayor
  • the Mayor’s Office have weekly meetings with the mayor to review all invitations. They will reply to your invitation as soon as a decision has been made to let you know whether the Mayor or deputy mayor) will be able to attend or not your event.
  • we normally arrange the diary around one month in advance, so if you send an invitation a long way in advance and need a response urgently, please let the office know and we will do our best to address this.
