(00:28) run from 2:00 we try and make sure that people get food it gives us an opportunity CU it generates a lot of new people and from there we get to offer them a pathway into treatment or to Education and Training some purpose you know and they can get benefits advice and they can get a lot more help 2 and a half thousand people a year come to our service we reach every part of the community there's a large Moroccan Community here we have Moroccan volunteers we have Moroccan people turning up you have African Caribbean
(00:59) one of the big successes for us when it happens is to see somebody come through the system so they they'll start as a service user to become a volunteer to become a team leader member of staff and then they go and get a job outside of us that we lead a good member of Staff but that's what we call a real success because they they've got and that happens quite regularly I was a service who the first at Bob for maybe uh a year then I only started doing volunteer work uh in the last 4 months for me it's more giving
(01:33) back I'm I think I'm giving back to the community Chris um when we met him first he was coming to our dropin service here at Acorn Hall and Visually you could tell he was in a really poor State it'd be very rare to meet somebody who's got serious addiction problem that it doesn't have a devastating effect on their physical and mental health and he was living in a container a metal container that was the first stage um you know sh shelter is really important for people in their recovery once he got that then we were able to work on the
(02:05) other things like his addiction then got him into Mental Health Services and today he's functioning perfectly he's uh back in the workforce again the success stories keep us going tackling substance misuse is a key priority Public Health priority of the council that's because it wrecks lives it causes a breakdown of relationships employment and can cause things such as homelessness crime I've really appreciated the opportunity to visit buildon belief today uh we've got food bank we've got activities we've got art
