World's End estate and surrounding area

What is happening?

We are working with resident groups and the local community to improve our services for residents on and around the World’s End estate.

The World’s End area project is part of our ambition to take a more neighbourhood-based approach to housing management and other service delivery. The project has arisen as a result of feedback from residents that they value local service support.

How did it come about?

In our Council Plan we prioritised delivering joined up services to residents locally on the estate, and the recent consultations and changes are to help us deliver those effectively.

We made the following commitment:

“The council will work with residents, starting with those who live at the World’s End estate, learning from the Lancaster West model to understand how neighbourhood approaches could benefit residents and how more joined up support across council services could provide better services for those in need of support.”

The area of the project has been expanded in recognition that services delivered on the World’s End estate are accessed by those living in the wider neighbourhood area.

What we are trying to achieve

We are trying to make a range of targeted services, advice and support more accessible to residents, based on what residents tell us is important to them.

This includes improving relationships between housing management and other services and ensuring council services are joined up, making it easier for residents to access the support they need.

Though a consultation and series of engagement events that were co-designed with residents earlier in 2024, we sought the views of residents on services on the World’s End Estate and surrounding area. This included seeking views on future improvements for the Blantyre Housing Office. We wanted to hear about what services are currently well used in the area, what other services residents would like to access and where residents would like to access them.

The results of the consultation exercise are being used to develop a plan to bring additional services to the World’s End estate, in line with the services identified by residents in the consultation exercise. The aim is to start delivering these services by April 2025. Read the full results of the consultation on our consultation hub.

On this page you can find information about what services are currently available, how to have your say on current and future consultations and find your feedback from previous consultations.
