Pedestrian access

A number of roads across the Carnival event area will be closed to the public to help with crowd management or to host event support infrastructure. These roads will be cordoned off with staffed barriers.

Kensington and Chelsea closures

  • Roads in and around the Swinbrook Housing Estate: Acklam Road, Bevington Road, Raddington Road, St Ervans Road, Wornington Road junction with Golborne Road. A number of roads within the estate are open but impacted by restricted access: Malvern Close, Morgan Road, Orchard Close, St Joseph’s Close.

  • Colville Houses
  • Colville Mews off Lonsdale Road
  • Edge Street
  • Holland Park Mews
  • Kensington Park Mews
  • Lancaster Road east of Ladbroke Grove to Portobello Road
  • Lancaster Road east of Basing Street to All Saint’s Road
  • Lonsdale Road
  • Malton Road and Malton Mews
  • Pembridge Gardens
  • Portobello Road between Chepstow Villas and Pembridge Road
  • St Charles Place
  • St Lukes Mews East and west of All Saint’s Road
  • Stanley Gardens
  • Swinbrook Road
  • Tavistock Crescent footbridge

Westminster closures

  • Bridstow Place
  • Brunel Estate
  • St John’s Mews
  • St Stephens Gardens East and North of Chepstow Road
  • Wellington Close

Access with ID

If you live in any of these roads that remain closed, you will be asked to show ID at the barrier point giving your name and address. Acceptable ID are:

  • bank statement
  • council tax statement
  • utility bill
  • driving licence

Planned visitors during Carnival

If you live on a closed or restricted road, during Carnival you will need to present your ID in person to those staffing the barrier to facilitate your guest's access.

Carers access

Council carers

If you live in a road with restricted access and have council-provided carers, they will automatically receive a letter to authorise access at the barrier.

Private carers

If you have private care, including a relative who provides support and needs to visit during Carnival, contact the Carnival phone line for the borough you reside in, to order an access letter:

Kensington and Chelsea,  weekdays 9am to 5pm, until Friday 22 August

Westminster, weekdays 9am to 5pm, until Friday 22 August
