Road closures and parking restrictions
To help with safety during Carnival, a number of road closures and parking restrictions are enforced.
Road closure times
Most roads within the Carnival area will be closed from 6am on Sunday 24 August to 6am on Tuesday 26 August.
The majority of the parking restrictions will begin at 11.59pm on Saturday 23 August through to 6am on Tuesday 26 August. Only Carnival floats, pre-authorised event vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed into the area during these times.
Residents who wish to remove their vehicles from the Carnival area should do so on the night of Saturday 23 August.
Police will be checking all vehicles entering the area and surrounding streets. Vehicles not part of the event will have no access.
Remember to:
- check signage for further information
- leave it as late as possible before driving vehicles back into the area
- check for any other vehicle restriction times on the roads around you before starting your journey, as these may impact your route out of the area

Kensington and Chelsea
Local road closures will operate on Saturday 23 August between 11am and 12am (midnight) in and around Kensal Road to facilitate the Panorama event.
Waiting restrictions will be in place in Pembridge Ward and parts of Norland Ward and Campden Ward on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August.
Temporary warning signs will be displayed, so look out for these.
Temporary removal of concrete blocks on Portobello Road for Notting Hill Carnival 2025
To help keep everyone safe and moving freely during this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, we’ll be temporarily removing the concrete vehicle blocks along Portobello Road between Monday 18 August and Friday 22 August. This follows advice from the Metropolitan Police and the event’s Safety Group and is designed to improve crowd safety. Road closures will remain in place on market days between 10am and 4pm with temporary barriers.
- All blocks will be reinstated by Monday 1 September
- Road surfaces will be repaired as works take place
- Extra marshals will support emergency and Blue Badge access
Thanks for your patience as we work to ensure a safe and successful Carnival for all!
