Pedestrian access
Access to some roads within the Carnival area will be closed to the public.
This it to help with crowd management or to host event support infrastructure such as welfare tents.
These roads will be cordoned off with staffed barriers with access only granted to those residents living directly within each particular road.
Road with restricted access
- Blagrove Road
- Codrington Mews
- Colville Houses
- Colville Mews (off Lonsdale Road)
- Edge Street
- Holland Park Mews.
- Kensington Park Mews
- Lonsdale Road
- Malton Road and Malton Mews
- Pembridge Gardens
- Portobello Road (between Chepstow Villas and Pembridge Road)
- St Charles Place
- St Lukes Mews (east and west of All Saint’s Road)
- St Mark’s Place (new for 2026)
- Stanley Gardens
- Roads in and around the Swinbrook Estate, including Acklam Road, Bevington Road, Raddington Road, St Ervans Road, Wornington Road junction with Golborne Road
Some roads within Swinbrook Estate are open but impacted by access restrictions:
- Malvern Close
- Morgan Road
- Orchard Close
- St Joseph’s Close
Tavistock Crescent footbridge
Due to safety concerns, Tavistock Crescent footbridge will be closed from 10am to 10pm on Sunday and Monday.
There will be no facilitated access during these times.
ID required for Access
If you live in a road with restricted access, you'll be asked to present a form of ID at the barrier point showing your name and address.
Acceptable forms of ID include:
- a bank statement
- council tax statement
- utility bill
- driving licence
If you're expecting visitors during Carnival, you will need to speak to staff at the barrier and present your ID to help facilitate access for your guests.
Access for carers
If you live in a road with restricted access and have council-provided carers, they will automatically receive a letter to authorise access at the barrier.
If you have private carers, including a relative who provides support and needs to visit during Carnival, contact the Carnival phone line to request an access letter.
Dockless bikes and scooters
Temporary parking and access restrictions will apply to dockless hire bikes and dockless e-scooters within the Carnival area.
If you plan to use a rental bike or e-scooter during Carnival, check the Transport for London (TfL) and operator apps before you travel for the latest availability and restriction information.
Bike stand and cycle hangars
Some bike stands and cycle hangars along and around the Carnival route will be temporarily removed to support crowd safety.
Signs will be attached to the stands 1 week in advance and any bicycles still attached to the stands will be removed.
All cycle stands and hangars will be replaced from Tuesday 1 September.
