Spaniels, Chelsea Pensioners and Street Parties
Public street parties at King’s Road and Gloucester Road saw crowds from across the capital (and beyond!) gather to see the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels’ parade, a celebratory march from the Chelsea Pensioners, a sustainable food market championing local businesses and extra-tasty treats for the occasion alongside face painters, steel pan band performances, jugglers and entertainers throughout the weekend.
On Sunday, as street parties and events continued across Kensington and Chelsea, over 300 elderly and socially isolated guests were invited to the Town Hall for an event run in partnership with the local Over 50s Forum and the Volunteer Centre Kensington and Chelsea. With decorations and cakes donated by local businesses and organisations, and volunteers from cadet groups as well as councillors and Council staff, the atmosphere was high energy – and the West End Musical Choir helped the day hit all the right notes too!
