A greener Coronation
The King has always been passionate about taking care of the planet. As part of our Council Plan, we are committed to becoming a greener borough. In anticipation of the Coronation, we encouraged residents – whether they were hosting or attending events – to consider saying no to single-use plastics and using reusable cutlery and crockery instead, and asking people to bring homemade food to share.
We encouraged residents to make their own decorations or buy recyclable paper decorations; use flowers and jam jars, washable tablecloths rather than plastic or single-use paper. You can also try to reduce food waste and check how to clean and separate recyclables from waste properly.
Another great option is to buy crockery, fabrics and food from local markets and shops, helping to support local businesses.
