The Royal Coronation 2023

Delivering excellent care for all residents over the Coronation

As part of the Council Plan 2023 to 2027, we are committed to tackling health inequalities, delivering excellent care and supporting and safeguarding children and adults.

While celebrating the King’s Coronation was a huge event for many residents, it was particularly special for many older residents, and so, linking into the Council Plan’s priorities, the Council worked with care homes across the borough to enable residents to enjoy celebrations with activities and events including tea and cake, party games and sharing memories.

Among the events in the run up to the Coronation involved making hats and flags, decorations for the care homes, quizzes and remembering the Queen. On the day, as well as everyone being able to watch the coronation, care homes plan to have tea parties, music and in the case of residents of the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary some will take part in a Freedom March down the King’s Road.

One care home also brought in a photobooth to allow residents to take photos with Coronation-themed props, including a full-size picture of the King and Queen! While at Ellesmere, residents enjoyed some art and decorated crowns and a high tea!
