The Royal Coronation 2023

Helping residents celebrate the historic occasion

City Living Local Life, the ward-based funding programme that supports local organisations and residents to improve their local areas through community-based activities such as events, street parties and improvement projects, distributed a total of £91,149.61 for community celebrations for the royal Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Over £81,000 funding was granted to 45 successful applicants as well as £10,000 towards a live screening of the Coronation ceremony at Holland Park, which was organised by Opportunity Kensington, the Business Improvement District representing businesses in and around Kensington High Street, and was made possible by the support of the Greater London Authority (GLA) alongside Kensington and Chelsea Council.

Applications for funding to celebrate the King’s Coronation opened from Wednesday 1 March 2023 and closed on Tuesday 11 April 2023 through the City Living, Local Life programme.

Cllr Sof McVeigh, Lead Member for Communities said:

Supporting communities has always been at the heart of the Council and through this programme, we were able to support residents and local communities to apply for funding and celebrate this historic event in the borough.

The programme is open for applications at various times throughout the year. Find out more about the City Living, Local Life programme.
